Happy Valentine's Day!

We accomplished our goal of having a Valentine's Day Fiesta! It was CRAZY! That morning, Adam and I went shopping for some cookies for the kids to frost and it was insanely expensive! For a few things of cookies, frosting, plates, bowls, sprinkles, etc. it cost us $44!!! WHAT?!?! We were a little shocked, but I guess it's to make the kids happy so it's worth it...right?

When we were about to leave, we were informed that there had been at a few houses around the soup kitchen, but they didn't know if anyone had been hurt or not. We were a little apprehensive going out there since we didn't know if the soup kitchen would even be open that day or if there would be more or less kids than usual.

Well...it was open and there were A LOT of kids! And since they all knew there was going to be a fiesta after a little playing outside, they all stayed. We had about 40 kids (when we had planned for the max being 30). So we ran out of plates, etc. and we had to distribute the cookies a little more carefully than we would have had we had our usual numbers. But I was glad that so many kids were able to stay and have fun!

Oh...but it was SOOOO INSANE passing out cookies, helping frost, and putting on sprinkles. We were smart enough to keep the sprinkles with us and not let the kids put them on their cookies themselves (I'm just imagining the mess there would have been and it makes me shudder), but the whole time kids were yelling "Kristy! Kristy! Yo quiero dulces!" I was seriously sweating by the end of it from running around and being attacked by kids. But they were pretty quick with the whole thing. We got them all in, with cookies, frosting & decorating done, and the place cleaned up within 30 minutes! I was so proud of us!

The kids sure had fun with the frosting and not all of it ended up on the cookies. Some kids brought up the bowls with leftover frosting in them for me to put in sprinkles which they proceeded to eat. Honestly - it looked pretty appetizing and had their dirty hands not been all in in the frosting, I probably would have had some myself. But I refrained. Well...here are some pics from our Fiesta de San Valentin!

That night, DeAnna and I went on a little V-day date with eachother and had a great time! We even were given flowers at our restaraunt from our waiter! We felt so special! It was a great V-day celebration.
